  14.             20L8-5 Problem

  17. 1.    The earlier versions of the 50 MHz Intel CPU on the Series 37 have 
  18. experienced an oscillator lock-up problem on power off-on sequence at high 
  19. temperatures.  
  20.  
  21. The version of the Intel CPU which should be used on the board is the 
  22. cC0-stepping 486DX 50 MHz CPU.  This version can be identified by one of the 
  23. following numbers stamped on the CPU: SX705, SX710, or Q302.

  25. 2.    A problem has been experienced with TI 20L8-5 24 Pin DIP PALs. They 
  26. are very unreliable at high temperatures. The symptoms of the problem are that 
  27. the system hangs under ACAD/WINDOWS/UNIX/OS2.

  29. But with the AMD 20L8-5 24 Pin DIP PALs, none of these problems were observed .

  31. Consequently, for all Series-37, Rev-C, 50 MHz, only AMD 20L8-5 should be used 
  32. at location U19 (H03F3702).
  33.  
  34. RMA and Tech Support personnel need to be aware of these problems.  The CPU 
  35. version and the make of the PAL at location U19 should be checked.
